“Individually we are one drop, together we are an ocean.”
In 1997, my grandmother demanded that I study abroad. She didn’t care where I went. I just needed to leave North America. I lived in Italy for 9 months and the experience was transformative. I became aware of the wider world and my own role as a world citizen. Global Citizens find a way to connect with others regardless of language barriers, cultural differences or borders. Without the push from my grandmother, I may never have had the courage to began my own venture to cure an ultra rare genetic syndrome that affects families across the globe. Daily, I connect patients and researchers around the world and drive pioneering research.
Through rich, culturally diverse, global experiences Live Like Leo Foundation is building a Youth Coalition of global citizens who will lead the efforts in solving modern problems.
