Run Like Leo 2025 Wrap-Up: A Community Moving with Purpose
2025 “Last Lap” Gathering in Lafayette with Leo’s friends
As we close out this year’s Run Like Leo, our hearts are full. What began as a way to honor Leo on his birthday has grown into something bigger than we could have imagined — a movement of family, friends, co-workers, teammates, and neighbors all coming together to celebrate his life and carry forward his legacy.
This year, we completely outpaced last year’s event — more participants, more miles logged, and more generosity than ever before. Together, we surpassed our $25,000 fundraising goal, ensuring that underserved students will have the opportunity to travel abroad, experience new cultures, and return with perspectives that will shape their futures.
But beyond the miles and the dollars, what stood out most was the sense of community. Teams pushed each other forward, kids joined their parents for laps, and supporters near and far shared in the spirit of movement and remembrance. Watching this circle of support grow each year gives us hope and keeps Leo’s light shining.
We’re also proud to share that the Live Like Leo Foundation has joined the Santa Cruz Community Foundation, expanding our ability to provide scholarships to local students. This new chapter means more young people will have access to life-changing opportunities — a true reflection of what this event is all about.
Thank you to every runner, donor, sponsor, and cheerleader who made this year’s Run Like Leo such a success. Whether you logged one mile or one hundred, donated or simply shared encouragement, you are part of this story. And together, we are building something that lasts.
Here’s to the miles behind us, the memories we’ve honored, and the opportunities we’ll create moving forward.
See you next year!
